Minimalized Messy

Peter took this picture of the moon in the early morning after being up with our darling girl!
I have "minimalized" my kitchen and bedroom... I am still working on my family room. There is not a lot of stuff in it, but it is the messiest room in the house. It doesn't have the feel that I want, so I'm not sure how to fix it. It is a movie room, homeschool room, dining room (when we have guests), and the room for entertaining. Because of that, it is difficult to organize and utilize all at the same time.

Some great sites that have helped me-

Organizing Your Way

www.realsimple.com

I'm reading realsimple.com now and moving furniture- AGAIN (it must be genetic
mom and shauna:) Next I'll pull out the vacuum to sweep up what was under the chair. I guess that is a benefit of constantly moving things.

I remember in college, I moved he furniture around one day. My roommates came home and they were SHOCKED. Their mothers never moved furniture and the room pattern had been the same since they were kids. I thought everyone moved their furniture every month!

I subscribed to "Organizing Your Way." She is a homeschool mom that uses the curriculum I use. It is inspiring to get ideas each day in my inbox. She is doing a two week focus on organizing for the holidays that I think is great.

One thing that is for sure- I will always be messy- maybe just a minimalized messy! It is just the way I am. If I didn't always have 17 other projects going, I might keep a neater house. but I don't want to stop those, so I will have to struggle for balance- the balance between not doing to much, simplifying what I do choose to do and cleaning up when it's time!

What do you think? Do you like to move furniture? Or is it just where you want it? Can you find the right "feel" to a room?
How do you balance chores with the rest of life?

Have a great weekend.
PS it's snowing here!

I just wrote about htis on the post above....BUT....I always move around furniture!! always!! And if it's not furniture than it is dishes, bottles, art supplies, sippy cups, clothing, shoes, and the list goes on. I cannot stand clutter and when things start to feel clutter-y I start moving things. John is not a fan, but like you said...it's in our blood!! :):)

Hey, Becca. I am laughing at this post. You sound like me. I am constantly rearranging furniture. My mom does the same thing, but she is worse than me. It is being passed down to Faye. The other day she started telling me where she wanted all the furniture moved in her room.
As far as balancing chores goes. I don't. I think I wait until something is so bad that I just have to clean it. I feel like I am constantly trying to keep up with the kitchen messes and laundry, not to mention homeschooling, that the other stuff can happen when I can't stand it anymore. :-)
