Today it got up to 10 degrees and I decided to run outside! I layered up, silk long sleeve shirt, polarmax sweatshirt, jacket, gloves, mittens, silk pants, running pants, silk socks, cool max socks, a beanie, a little Vaseline on my face to protect it from the wind--- ready! Oh ya and of course my MP3 player.
I run down the street, looking VERY out of place. I run on a cow trail, literally. I run on snow and dirt. The wild grasses are yellow and they dot the flat plain. The sky was perfect clear blue and the mountains are covered with white snow.
I run underneath the electrical poles that connect our house to the modern world. I make it to the end of the trail and head back home.
I've been running about 40 minutes when I reach my neighborhood again. I run through the dirt roads in our neighborhood and past many pedistrains. A stray dog passes me at a slow trot. I am about to stop, then I reach a downhill- nice. That never happens on a treadmill! Then I see a couple riding on a horse cart. They give me the thumbs up and it encourages me to run all the way home.
49:47 minutes of running. It's 3:34 and I have the whole afternoon ahead. :)
