Remembering Winter

It's cold and worse still, it's getting colder. It's going to get MUCH MUCH colder. A winter in California really worked some magic and made Peter and I forget the winter in Mongolia. Our temporary amnesia has been shattered and now we remember the winter cold!

Today when we woke up it was -20. Now it's 0. The daytime temperature will continue to decline until we reach an average of -20 or -30 Fahrenheit. In January, it will continue to dip and get to -45 or -50; and at the coldest time of the year, we will hop on a plane and head to the tropical oasis of Thailand! Thank you God for air travel!

Yesterday, stupidly, I went out to visit a friend with a damp head. I parked my car on the street and walked across their yard. By the time I reached their house, my hair was frozen to the top of my head. This causes an instant headache and I promptly went to the store and bought myself a hat and gloves.

Today I walked my language tutor out to the gate, a Mongolian custom, and I made the mistake of smiling. My teeth were frozen and a
slight nerve pain in my front teeth shot through my face.

Later next month, I will be able to feel the strange sensation of the inside nose completely freezing and suddenly it feels like my nose is filled with rock sized boogers.

Hmmm what a lovely way to end this post, with "rock sized boogers." :)

Laughing out loud on the last comment. You crack me up.
I'm sorry it's so cold. I really can't imagine that cold. Please be careful sweetie! Cover, layer, wrap up tight when you head out!

Love you! Mom

SAY WHAT? Some of your freezing weather news is a first for me. How are the children doing staying inside all the time? I bet you wish you were all bears and could just hibernate all winter. Do you need any Kleenex? Love You, Mom 2
