I'm Back

I traveled all day on Friday to get to my 5pm appointment in UB. I was scheduled to see the ultrasound tech at SOS international clinic. After getting there, the ultrasound doctor had left. So I asked to see a doctor for a consultation. After hearing my symptoms they said, gall bladder.

They told me to go to a private hospital the next day and told me it closed at 3pm. So I walked out of the clinic, rolling my suitcase, in the dark, to the store. I bought groceries for the night and hailed a cab to take me to the apartment.

When I got to the apartment, I realized I forgot the key and then went to the Sprengers, who live in that building, to get the spare. Then I stayed for dinner. Mike Sprenger had just spent the day at the private hospital I was referred to and said it was a decent hospital.

The next morning I fasted for my thyroid blood work and walked 4 blocks to the blood clinic. I got my blood work done and hailed a cab to the hospital. I got to the hospital and waited for the ultrasound lab tech. They said it would be about an hour.

While I waited for TWO hours, I had the coffee and sandwich that I packed and read that novel I was looking forward to reading.

Finally I got in to see the doctor. I laid in her office for another 20 minutes while she typed a report about her previous patient. Then she started my ultrasound. She was very capable and the machine was good quality. She took pictures of all my internal organs.

Then she asked me if I had eaten. Yes, I reply. (the SOS doctor didn’t mention fasting, which is annoying because I have already fasted for the morning blood test and would have continued if I knew) “Oh, I can’t find out exactly what is wrong then” she says. "You will have to come back Monday." I explain to her I am leaving Sunday. She says that there are no stones and probably just enlarged and that I need to see the gastro doc. So I say that I would like to see them now. She tells me they are closed now, at 1 pm.

I get really upset, but it is not her fault. She tells me I should have arrived earlier. :)

I almost just walk out. Then I head to the receptionist and BEG in English and Mongolian to see the gastro doctor, several times. It is only 1:07 and I KNOW the doctor is still there.

They let me in I see the very annoyed doctor, who spoke only Mongolian. She tells me that it is enlarged and maybe infected, and gives me three prescriptions. Currently, I only understand that 1 of them is an antibiotic. I need help translating the rest.

I ask her if it is really bad, she says no it’s so so and that I shouldn’t eat fat. Very thorough diagnoses. :)

I do know I don’t have stones. If you get stones, it must be removed. So we’ll see if the antibiotics will work.

loving you.
