weeds---

I haven't been a good gardener this year! I haven't weeded my garden. It is amazing how weeds grow. If vegetables grew that fast, there wouldn't be one hungry person on the earth!

This morning it was cooler, so I went out to weed- to actually UNCOVER some of my plants. I was struck again how this is a great illustration to my spiritual life.

Often I am lazy, not reading the Bible, praying, memorizing the Word. I think oh, it's fine. I know that I am still growing.

My garden so clearly illustrates how doing nothing, isn't really nothing. It is neglect. The good will be overtaken with weeds... the little seeds of faith will be choked out. My sinful mind will overtake the baby plants of love, joy, gentleness, self control. I will be overrun.

I lie to myself and think, "oh it's fine...the field is just empty.... not so- it is filling with weeds."

I have thought the same things when I have been working in our yard. That God's creation speaks to us about how it is with our own hearts. That if we don't daily confess sin and turn from it the flesh (weeds) will continue to grow and the roots will get stronger and stronger but if we daily allow Him to pull the weeds so to speak our relationship will flourish and grow and our spirit will grow stronger and stronger.
It is interesting to compare His creation to our own hearts. The flesh sure rises up strong and fast if we don't protect our own hearts through the reading of His Word and Prayer.
What a struggle it is ... daily and sometimes minute by minute.
I love you and do pray for all of you all the time.
Love you as big as everything. :)

Thanks, Becca! That is a great picture lesson for me! I am afraid I neglect my little baby plants too--sometimes they are totally hidden by the weeds!
Excellent picture! God Bless your gardening today and always!
