Video of "center time"

I found a new author that I really like. Her name is Barbara Curtis. She was a preschool teacher and is a Christian mother of 12!!! She has been a true inspiration to me. Last fall, I was struggling with sleepless nights and a very active three year old that needed more in his life. As most of you know, the local preschool didn't work out. I was very bummed. It began a search for things to do at home with my crazy, active boy!

I bought two of Curtis' books, Mommy Survival Guide and Mommy Teach Me. Both were lifesavers for me. She gives real life help for moms. Things she's tried and that work. A revelation for for me was her idea of training. It should have been more obvious to me, but she clarified the need to train a child through each step slowly and clearly. It helps the mom design centers- real life skills- then train the child how to do it. Then watch them as they do it a couple of times.

After working together on it a few times, it becomes a individual task.

Anyhow it works for us--- here is an example of W. boy doing center time.

you are such a clever mom! I find it hard just to find the time to keep my kids tummies full and buns clean, much less design 'centers!' I am very impressed!!!
