Weston started doing chores and uses a chore chart, which is very encouraging to him and easy for me. He is motivated everyday to do his chores.
Here is his list-
- Get dressed (He hates that!)
- puts on his eye patch (eye doc has us patching his strong eye 4 hours a day)
- Clear dishes and wipe the table
- Make bed/put toys in box
- Room time without whining
- Clean up room before dinner
- Clean up living room with mommy before bed.
He has the opportunity to earn a 10 tugriks per chore. It is about a penny a chore. It would be like giving a dime per chore in America.
So tonight we had a little chat about money management. He is SOO responsible with money a born saver, so I don't lay it on thick! I just used his money to explain how daddy and I make choices and save up.
Then I asked him what he might want to buy if he saved up.
He said, "a spaceship toy, or a real piggy bank (I left his in America- didn't think he'd miss it, bad mom) and I want to save some for when I grow up for gasoline and cars and big stuff I need when I get big. I'll put it in my real wallet and spend it on things just like you do." Too cute...
Here he is with the piggy bank we made. He learned a difficult lesson last week. He took his allowance outside and left it laying around. The boys in our yard stole it and ran away... sad. Weston was so upset--- crying forever! But it was a good way to learn to take care of your money while only losing 4 cents. I couldn't get him to calm down until I suggested making a piggy bank together where he could keep his money safe. (Yes it is an old nut can--- I did my best it was an emergency!)

Weston,
I am so sorry that you lost your money. That has happened to your Aunt Shauna too. It is no fun! You made an awesome piggy bank! Perhaps I'll send you some coins.... :)
Love you very much!
