I never do. We had 4 big backs to check, 4 backpacks, 1 rolling carry on and my purse.
I'd like to blame it on the fact that I live here and we can buy some things in Mongolia. or on the fact that we have kids and that makes more stuff. They rarely use what I pack for them though. I packed a bag of light toys for Sierra. So far, 15 hours into our trip, she's play with the barf bag, a gum wrapper and a water bottle.
Maybe I don't travel light because I want to be prepared and have everything we need- but there is still too much.
So I'm going to try and travel lighter from now on.
We're back in UB safe and sound. It was 4 degrees when we landed today, 30 warmer than when we left! woot woot!
PS I wrote this on a barf bag, on the back of it, I wrote a condensed packing list.

i'm glad that you made it!! i was laughing about the barf bag! haha...
LOL..me too, Shauna! Glad you're back, and that it's "warm." Thank you for letting us know you are there!
Dad and I are laughing out loud about the barf bag! So true. Buy the expensive toys and they like the box better. Why don't we learn.
Love you
Are you kidding? Why travel light? As long as the luggage allowance is free, use it up! BA gives missionaries 3 a piece, so now that both our kids get a ticket, that means we get to take bag 12 bags!!! Will we fill them all up? You betcha! I have no idea how we will get to the airport, or home from the airport in Dar, but I don't care. :-)
So true Amy! But then when you get home, you have to put it all away and organize it. I feel like my house is bursting at the seams. Although there are always things we need and want!
yeah, I know what you mean. Gil told me that if we are taking back 12 pieces, that a lot of it better be for the school and a lot of the rest of it better be consummable! I agree. I am somewhat of a minimalist so I don't like clutter around....but I certainly wouldn't mind lots of chocolate chips "cluttering" up my pantry! :-)
