Fish!!!

Yesterday as the sun was setting, and as the kids were drifting into dreamland, I was really looking forward to some peace and quiet before Peter got home. Then I heard the dog barking. There was a man at the gate waving for me to come out. I was a little annoyed because I wanted time to myself, and a little scared because it was nearly dark, but I ventured out.

He asked me if I spoke Mongolian, a welcome change, since most people automatically start speaking to me in Russian. I said yes and asked what he wanted. He said he had a giant fish and wondered if I wanted to buy it. I told him, I'd look at it. He ran back to his house to get it. I went back in and did the dishes while I waited.

While cleaning up, I was having doubts. I wasn't sure if I should buy it, because it may start a stream of people coming here asking if I want to buy things. Then I was suddenly encouraged that it was OK. I wanted fish, he wanted money... it was a good way to help out his family!

He came back and I went out. The man pulled a fish (a kind of pike)out of the bag and he was beaming!!! It was truly enormous. He had just caught it one hour before! I told him I would buy it if he cleaned it.

He cleaned it, I paid him. Then I came in and popped it in the oven. It is the most delicious fish ever--- so fresh and so flaky good.

So everyone is happy and I'm sure we'll be eating more fish because that man just found a buyer!

That is so awesome! And what and answer to prayer! You were worried about the extream want around you, and now you have a chance to help the community first hand, while still providing for your family! And plus, if ppl. are bringing stuff to your gate for you to buy, that means fewer trips to the market! Love you! J

Hey, You are one smart cookie! I still remember when you had to hack away at the fish that we bought at the zauk. It was not an easy job cleaning that fish. It had the biggest scales I have ever seen on a fish! It was so great talking to you and the family last night. I love SKYPE:) Luv Ya TM, Mom

I haven't seen your hair that long in many years! It looks beautiful! You look really great Becca! I mean Skinny Minnie!!! Seriously! :)

ps. The fish is pretty too! :) hehe! I'm glad you bought it—see, God works in unusual ways--sometimes through a fish! (just ask Jonah! haa!)

TM, that is so wonderful!!! That took courage and faith, I know, to not just let Sam bark and to agree to buy the fish. I'm also so glad God gave you a way to make a change in that man's life. While it's not possible to change life for everyone, you can be a part of God's plan to minister to the Mongolian people.
