Peter's Birthday

It is Peter's birthday today. W. helped me make the cake. When I asked him what kind of cake we should make he said, "Bob the Builder." So we made a "Dad the Builder" cake! It was very fun and I'm sure it made Peter feel young, since it looked like a preschooler's cake! I was also able to find a nice gift for him here, a RARE thing! He got a new pair of really cool work shoes.

W. had to go to the doctor to get a vaccination shot today. We had to wait for two hours and listen to couple of informational classes. Then they line up the children and give them shots one right after another (with a new syringe-don't worry ;) It is quite a scene and W. made it much worse. He was kicking, screaming and pounding his feet. Then he was so angry after the shot, he was growling and spitting. While we walked home he screamed the entire way.

Anyone that struggles with pride should take around a preschooler with them all day everyday--- I was so embarrassed, but there was nothing that would stop him. I just walked out calmly as if I wasn't carrying a screaming, angry, and spitting 4 year old!! People clucked their tongues and shook their heads, I just smiled and walked slowly and deliberately out.

Okay...I know this wasn't funny but I have to admit your description of W. made me chuckle. What a scene. :-) You'll have to remember this one and tell him about it someday.

I am so right there with ya sister! Abby flips out at the doctors. At her two year check up a few weeks ago (she didn't even need shots) all they wanted to do was weigh her, measure her, look in her ears and listen to her heart. No bad, right? Oh my! Abby was writhing on the ground hysterical--screaming at the top of her lungs, kicking, etc. If she knew how to spit she would have done that too.
This is also the same scene when I get her hair cut, say no, try and make her hold my hand in the street...you get the point. :) Man, the toddler years are definitely humbling. Nothing like picking your screaming child off of the ground while trying to hold on to your last shred of dignity. :)
Love you!!

We have all been there. You just hold your head up high and keep moving! It is funny though as a Na Na to hear your description. It makes me chuckle! :) Someday W will have the same child as he walks out humbled by his child. The circle of life! :)

I'm sitting at work smiling at your description! It's like reliving my son Austin's childhood. That boy could throw a fit (throw his body down and slam his head on the floor/ground...not caring if it was carpet or cement). It got to the point that when we'd go into town I'd always put him in overalls so I could pick him up and get out of there fast! My prayers and smiles are with you and your little W-Cat!

Hi Becca,
Your site is so nice... background, pictures, what you write. Very nice. I haven't been able to go on for about two weeks since a 'worm' got my computer (how this got past my antivirus, I still do not know). Our friend, Bayraa, finished fixing everything last night (if you ever need a computer guy, we've found a good one).
Happy birthday to Peter! Cool that you saw a seagull. Some of us down here get into bird watching. :)With love and prayers, Lynn
